Rock Hill Aquatics Center

Rock Hill, South Carolina

Paddock: Rock HillThis project began when the local School Superintendant called Paddock to share his vision of a new indoor Aquatic Center to teach every child in the district how to swim; a few short years later, backed by a partnership with the YMCA, this community of 50, 000 people boasts not just a center for swimming instruction, but a venue for competitive swimming that is quickly gaining notoriety up and down the east coast. The two indoor pools were built by Paddock Construction Company of Rock Hill, SC.

One reason for the Aquatic Center’s growing popularity is the 25 yard by 25 meter competition pool, which features the Paddock C300 (IFRS-ASR System 3) Perimeter, an integrated recirculation system engineered to improve swimmers’ times by maintaining a smooth water surface and by processing excess surge to prevent flooding of the overflow channel. The fully-recessed gutter design includes a decorative tile face, offering a textured surface for flip turns. Paddock Track Start Platforms at the 9 foot deep end insure a great start to every race. Instruction is provided at the 6 lane exercise pool with an entry ramp along the side, monitored by lifeguards stationed at several Paddock Observation Platforms.

18 to 20 foot wide decks between and around the pools, along with permanent seating for 500 spectators, make the Aquatic Center a comfortable setting for large meets. High-tech products define the whole facility, from Paddock’s Compak Vacuum Sand Filters, to the remote judging platforms and video scoreboard supplied by Colorado Timing. And, the natatorium is known for its exceptionally clean air, thanks to PurAqua, supplier of the dual Hanovia Ultraviolet Disinfection units—the finest chloramine destruct system available today.
